For the historic Prinz-Leopold Barracks District in Regensburg, a new urban planning concept should be developed, which holds significant potential as the last major inner-city conversion area. A mixed-use development with a focus on residential use is desired.
The development of the area has been very unstructured so far. As a result, nothing remains of the former neighborhood. The new concept is arranged in a grid pattern, creating a clear overall picture.
Out of the desire to preserve the existing trees, the Green Center was created. This divides the area into two large development zones, which are oriented along green axes.
The area responds to the surrounding noise with elevated perimeter buildings and noise-resistant commercial uses. The Green Center extends its axes into the outer commercial units, systematically greening the area.
